Does It Equate? Poster Series

"Does It Equate?" is a photographic poster series that brings up the question "Does society truly view women as equal to men?". Because despite all women’s rights the way women are treated in some places and some cultures is still very sexist. Despite women's rights, it is also proven that there is a gender wage gap by the World Economic Forum Report 2021 which is measured by Economic Participation and Opportunity, Educational Attainment, Health and Survival, and Political Empowerment. The idea was to show equality up in front and inequality in the background.

The posters were made for the competition Do The Right Thing by Poster for Tomorrow.

Poster1.png

Just a man and a woman lying on an equal sign but if you look closely, you can find that the man's pose is more relaxed and the woman's pose is more proper. Besides this the background also suggests inequality.

Poster2.png

Pink hand for women and blue hand for men wrapped in the equal sign. Looks just fine but it is obviously not centered and seems like the man is pushing up which suggests power. And the woman's hand is going out of frame. The gender inequality is more obvious.

Poster3.png

This is a bolder representation of gender inequality. The man is shown floating with a small qualification but the woman is drowning with a much bigger qualification which suggests that women have to put up twice the efforts that men do to succeed because of the responsibilities imposed on women in many cultures.
