THINGS
For the website for my Things project, I decided to make it using webflow which seem more complicated that Adobe XD but you can do some pretty cool animation with it which I thought would be very useful for my project and I also wanted to try something new.
First of all I had to get better pictures from the people who sent me pictures of their knives. It was pretty hard and I had to do some explanation, luckily they were all relatives or else it would have been soo awkward 🤣🤣. I also did a little interview with them to know about their life and stuffs. After getting their pictures there were some editing to do and they were ready for the website.
For the website thought it would be cool to have a logo and a name so that it looks more professional and I thought of Memento Couteaux where memento is an object kept as a reminder of a person or event and it also literally translate to "remember" from latin. Couteaux is just knife in French. I thought of the word couteux because in Mauritian Creole, knives are called couteau too, and I found it best suited because the word couteaux rhyme with memento and memento is Latin and couteau is French which is a descended language from Latin.

Here are the work that I did for the logo. For the "MEMENTO" I used the serif font that I used all over my website as for the "Couteux" because it's french I thought of of those twirly decorative font would suit it well because they are very "Frenchy". I also included a photographic film in it as memento also means souvenir and I wanted it to relate more to memories, something that reminds you of these person, and the most common way of making memories in our modern day is by taking pictures from our phones, so that's why I chose a photographic film. I also wanted to put a knife in it but it was looking too bulky and not very nice. So this is the final logo.

Other than that I also did a few icons to use in my website to display the amount of income level, the different family members and usage level for the knives. I also made an arrow for an accordion part that I was planning to have on my website
Now onto designing the website, I wanted it to be a 1 page website because it was like an infographic website sort of thing and yeahh,.. it was pretty hard in the beginning because it was a completely new interface but in the end I managed to do it and I am really happy with the result.
The animations on webflow allowed me to keep the layout super simple and not over crowded with information and details appears when you hover on the icons
I also made the website for mobile and tablet also and it was super easy with webflow as it does most of it automatically. However there were some tweaks here and there that I had to do.
I wanted to add a comment section for people to be able to share their opinions on this project but unfortunately it was on the paid plan of webflow so yeahh...
Here is the website link.
