CLASS
This week we learn about 4 field of design by tharp and tharp which are:
Commercial design - Advertising a service or product for more people to buy
Discursive design - Voicing out an idea or opinion, sharing knowledge and letting people think about the subject
Experimental design - Focuses more on experimentation rather than on the final outcome. It focuses more on the exploring, experimentation and discovery
Responsible design - Focuses on solving a problem in a humanitarian way and does not really focuses on gaining profit but more on serving the "under-served".
I AM AMPLIFIER
First Idea
Based on the articles I read and all, I'm concluding, that for me, a designer is someone who need to care, he need to take responsibility of the things he is designing or promoting and need to know what will be it's impact on both the environment and the people around him. A designer should not just design for money, because if we do not care then no one will and then problem like global warming, gender equality, racism, ect and all will become worst.
So I decided to focus on one that is very critical nowadays which is pollution, and after some research I found that Coca Cola has been named the most polluting industry. But how does it pollutes?
Based on my research plastic is doomed to affect the environment. From extraction to creating the plastic pellets it creates a lot of air pollution, affects the health of the people working there, sometimes the labors are also exploited and there is also water pollution. On top of that a lot of energy is also needed to produce plastic bottles and it's not an easy process
After reading all that I decided to take a look Coca-Cola's slogans
Original Tastes
Things go better with Coke
It's the real Thing
Open Coke Open happiness
Taste the feeling
These are a few that I decided to focus on and here's a few things that I came up with trying to bring the audience attention towards them being the most polluting industry
Original taste with lot of wastes.
Earth goes worst with Coke
And I also got the idea to try to use the slogan "Its the real thing" literally and also relating it with pollution with maybe an illustration or something, like in a way to say that Coke is real pollution.
Second Idea
My second idea, does not focuses on any brand but more on the role and responsibility of a designer. It's still the same conclusion I made but my focus on this one is "balance", because I think a designer need to balance anything and everything together so that his actions does not worsen a situation for example vex a community or something.
One of my ideas is to kind of make a play with the word balance a little bit like this but then it does not really reflect the responsibility of a designer, like what is the balance I am talking about?
Then I got the idea to make things like these
But the little words are going to be words like "politics, racism, society, environment, LGBT" all the subjects that we have in the society and all these words will make up the word "balance".

Other than that the previous idea could be hard to understand as the small words are going to be really small, so I thought that I could also use white space and then the whole background will be filled with the words that I mentioned but bigger and the white space will form the word balance.
After tutorial I was reminded by my lecturer that I need to make the placard on what I personally think a designer needs to be so I have to fix some areas here and there in what I want to write.
I AM HERE WHERE ARE YOU

For the map where you feel in Graphic design I illustrated an alien land which looks scary and beautiful at the same time and it's because it how I feel Graphic Design is to me and I want to explore it further because what I might find can be really exciting. At the same time this artwork shows my interest in illustrations and digital art.
