We got a study to make of "The Ways and Workings of Creative Thinkers" to get us to learn how we should interview the designers we have to for the 1000 words about someone here's my analysis

GD MAP

For my GD map first I completed the sketch with all the symbols in their respective places.

Then I wanted a natural original look for the map so I went on playing with paper and again I wanted to use the techniques that we've learned in week 4.

I also played with coffee to give the paper an aged look.

So yeah here is my process into making the map in photoshop. I actually combined 3 pictures together to get the map like I wanted.

I first added the shape that looked more like a pirate map for me. Then I used the age paper that I removed the background and place it behind this texture, I also added some highlights so that my illustration will pop out more. Then I added another texture that I extracted from the most texture aged page and I change the layer's opacity and blending mode and painted the color to a lighter color and tadaaaahhh!!!

Here is the painting process...

And these are my layouts with different typos. I first thought of a hand written font will look better on it but when I did it, it was messy so I decided to look up for a font on google fonts and it suited the map very well. At first I also wanted to make everything in the map but after trying the layout where the map is placed behind another piece of paper I think this one looks more neat and aesthetic but I still have to think about it.

THINGS

For my knives project I did further research on the symbolism of knives

Here are the research...

Knives Symbolism Meaning (Knife Symbolism & Meanings | Sunsigns.Org, n.d)

Because knives were used for a lot of negative stuff such as weapons and for sacrificial ceremonies it is often symbolized as betrayal, revenge or sacrifice in many cultures.

However it also has been essential for survival, that’s why a lot of cultures like Greek, related it to protection.

In Anglo-Saxon culture people were buried with knives so that they will have protection and will not be left defenseless

Knife is also symbolized as our mind. In one way our mind can be rational, logical and caring However it can play tricks on us and be cruel and tormenting and let us have negative thoughts. Just like that a knife can be very useful and also can stab it’s own owner.

In dreams knives could be a symbol that you have experienced injustice and it’s like your subconscious telling you to fight back.

Knives Symbolism (Knife Tattoos With Sharp And Powerful Meanings - Tattooswin, n.d.)

Knives put in different contexts can have different meanings. A chef knife for a chef can be a symbol of pride. A knife with a fork can be a symbol of delicacy or luxury. A knife in a heart can mean a person who is heart broken or who has been betrayed.

With different elements of style, the symbolism of knives can change.

Knives in dreams (The Meaning And Symbolism Of The Word, n.d)

Knives in dreams put in different contexts can have different meanings.

Being stabbed in the stomach - enemy planning to hurt you

Being stabbed in the back - enemy disguised as a friend

Stabbing yourself - feeling guilty for hurting someone close to you

Knives have a lot to do with relationships.

After all of that I made a mind map of my understanding to be able to know where to further research.

ree

This is my general finding on the symbolism of knives and one thing that I was thinking of researching on is what do people think about knives in our modern society, do they view it as a weapon more than as a tool. With all the different types of knives we have in the society, how does the context of knives changes with different elements.

ree

Other than that, I was able to relate knives to relationship and feeling based on the new finding I made. Mostly in dreams knives have a lot to do with relationship and feeling. So maybe I could explore on that.
