For this exercise we had to go around the campus and collect textures from 3 natural and 3 man-made objects and describe it and tell what it memory or feelings it triggers...

ree

The first one I found was grass which was soft and soothing, it kind of gave a ticklish feels in the hand and it made me remember of my childhood because of course like most kids I used to play a lot in the grass.

Then there was also a rough wall which made me think of a very bad and tiring day as it gave off bad vibes and some kind of annoying feelings. It also reminds me of how much i did hurt my knee in my childhood.

There was also a bucket which was made of plastic and was very soft and hard, It just reminded me of my toys when I was kid...

There was also a straw in the the bucket which was puffy, smooth, dry and comfy. It gave off a dizzy feel and made me think of my duvet in my country.

ree

There was also a tree that was very dry, rough and broken. It made me remember of winter in my country and how my lips would always get very dry and get the same texture of that tree sometimes when I would just ignore it.

Then lastly there is this chain that I saw under one of the campus's table. It was cold, hard and twisty and it had like a strong feeling to it, kind of reviving because of the twisted-ness that was very hard and cold. Touching it made my fingers felt like they were on a roller coaster. Also because of it being twisty and cold, it made me think of a snake.

So basically from that exercise I've learned how to record textures and also how to find inspiration from textures. And I've also learned how textures can be used to create certain mood and feeling in a design.
