So our class this time was I think the most fun class we had until now. We were given a little lecture on typography and how they are used to tell a story and all that like always. But then we got divided into groups and each of us got 1 cup with something to taste inside. Me and my classmate got coffee,...yeah,... raw coffee powder to taste.

So then we were asked to describe it, sketch textures/ image that relates to it and search for existing fonts that matches what we described and the textures and all that. then lastly make sketches of our own typography for what we need.for the word "yum"

So here's our workings and all that. For the typography we had to do we decided to use an old english kind of fond to fit the very dark taste of the coffee. But then we had to do it with Plasticine.

And here's our finale result. Now let me explain...

For the "Y" we chose a mixture of colors to represent that Yuck feeling you get when you first eat it. it's kind a bit salty and my classmate described that as yellow and then brown is the coffee taste that comes afterwards. the little green dots relates to the want to spit it out that you get.

The "U" however I wanted to make it black and dark and with that harsh old english font to represent the deep strong coffee taste that comes after the disgusting taste.

After that there is the "M" which is less black and then a mixture of black and grey, then grey and lastly white. Which shows how the taste fades and we also altered the "M" in the end to show how it fades smoothly. We also added the green dots because you get the yuck feeling in the end again but this time it's mixed with yellow because it's less disgusting, less harsh kinda.

So In this course we learnt the importance of typography and how to use them to pass a message, tell a story and also how to organize our work to come up with innovative font and it's very quick also.
